we will transfer records from your previous school to West River Academy. This is the way to withdraw students in the US and many other countries. However, if there is another way to help you withdraw from your school, we are happy to work with you on the best way to do it.
West River Academy is not an online school. We do not provide or require curricula or specific learning materials. You will have the flexibility to customize your own educational program or purchase services from any source that can assist you. You may use the language of your choice and choose a learning style that suits you, from unschooling to state-approved or commercial curriculum. We recommend learning naturally, referred to as unschooling or interest-based learning. We offer consultations to help orient you and find a learning style and materials to get started.
We encourage you to keep track of what you are learning so that you can send us a report at the end of each year. The report can be in the format of your choice—a written summary in narrative or portfolio style, a list of activities and materials or a list of subjects with grades. You may order a transcript at that time.
To enroll a group of at least 20 students who are paying for your services, you can contact us and ask for a group application. You will pay a discounted fee of $225 per student plus $40 per sibling. Please see the FAQ on Group Enrollment for more details.
If you wish to find and join a group and receive support as well as discounted fees for enrollment in West River Academy, ask us about groups in your area.
please scroll down to the flags and click on your country’s flag. Send us an email and we will reply with the representative in your country that can help you with local and legal issues, as well as with questions about enrollment in West River Academy. They may also coach families who are just getting started with homeschooling and unschooling.
Transcripts can be ordered at the end of each school year. The transcript will be in English and will use the grading system of the US. It can then be notarized and sent for an Apostille (for members of The Hague Convention).
If you wish to graduate from high school with an accredited high school diploma and transcript, you can enroll in the Graduation Project and submit a written or multi-media presentation of your educational journey. See the FAQ page for more details on the Graduation Project. Upon acceptance of your project, a diploma and transcript are issued. They can be sent for Apostilles and then be submitted to your Ministry of Education for validation. You are advised to find out before you enroll if the Ministry of Education in your country will validate our documents.
You may also want to apply to universities in the US, where West River Academy students from many countries have been admitted.
